The NTEU MISSION

To organize federal employees to work together to ensure that every federal employee is treated with dignity and respect."

The National Treasury Employees Union represents some 150,000 workers in 30 government agencies, making it the largest independent non-postal federal employees union. The union specializes in representation of non-supervisory federal employees in every classification and pay level in civilian agencies. NTEU has worked for over 65 years to expand the scope of federal employee protections, rights, and benefits.
 

 

 NTEU Chapter 47 is located in downtown Manhattan, New York. Servicing federal employees from the New York Metropolitan area, NTEU Chapter 47 provides assistance, guidance and resources for NTEU members, and works tirelessly to fulfill its mission statement to "ensure that every federal employee is treated with dignity and respect".

  • 3.9% Pay Raise, 4.2 % in New York

    Federal employees in the New York metropolitan area will see an increase of 4.2 percent their 2009 pay rates. This results from the White House decision to allocate one percent of the 3.9 percent pay increase to locality pay. The remainder, 2.9 percent, will allocated to across the board. READ MORE

  • Taxpayer Advocate: IRS Outperforms Private Tax Collectors:

    According to Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson, IRS 2008 data shows that IRS tax collectors collected three times as much as its private contractors. She stated, The PDC [Private Debt Collection] program is probably causing a net reduction in federal revenue, which obviously defeats the purpose of the program." READ MORE
